VREEEEM! Some significant press embargo was yanked sometime last night, and news about the incoming Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta is dripping all over the internet tubes like bits of the luckless Carmine family.
First up – and most importantly – the beta is dropping in “mid-April”. It’s not yet entirely clear whether this is for early access tickets (shipped with the Epic Edition of Bulletstorm) or for everybody, but either way, it’s pretty soon.
Next, two maps are already confirmed – the sporty, death-spicy Thrashball, and the… supermarket-themed Checkout. Two other maps will be bundled in, however, and you – THAT’S YOU, SOLDIER! – get to vote on what those will be. Roll on over to the official Gears of War 3 Facebook fan page and make your mark. According to the poll, the nominees are:
• Overpass
• Old Town
• Mercy
• Trenches
The beta will also feature three multiplayer modes, including Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and the new it’s-basically-Guardian-with-Submission Capture the Leader.
