Bungie’s MMOG announcement was a joke, apparently

7 March 2011

Over at a GDC Powerpoint presentation last week, Bungie’s David Aldridge showed a slide claiming the company was hiring for a “massively multiplayer action game.” Predictably enough, the internet subsequently exploded in neon headlines about Bungie’s “massively multiplayer action game.”

It turns out it was all some kind of clever joke – one that obviously isn’t funny. Or obvious at all, for that matter.

According to an official retraction over on Bungie’s site, “Aldridge was convinced that everybody got the joke. It was all in the delivery, he assured us, and he was certain it was clear that he was playfully riffing off of the recent rumors. Unfortunately, most people can’t figure David out – they can’t process him. And we don’t expect them to. You can’t process David Aldridge with a normal brain. You’d need tiger blood and Adonis DNA.”

Aldridge is presumably not winning at the office today.
