The September console sales results are in and Xbox One stormed into first place, according to a report by MCVUK.
But they didn’t just finish first, Xbox consoles dominated the opposition finishing with a 1000% increase in sales week on week.
By comparison, the PlayStation 4 had a relatively quiet September as a whole, so what is it that caused Xbox One sales to spike so dramatically?
The Xbox One S.
The console, which now retails at the same price as its predecessor, not only sports a much smaller, sleeker chassis, it offers a better hard drive, a new controller, 4K output, and even slightly better performance in games.
This has also had a knock-on effect with older stock, as retailers scrambled to clear shelves by offering the older Xbox One at much lower prices.
September also saw two big Xbox “marquee” releases, Forza Horizon 3 which is a Microsoft-exclusive, and FIFA 17, which has heavy ties with Microsoft including special features that only appear in the Xbox version of the game.
There’s still more to come too, with Gears of War 4, Halo 6, Dead Rising 4, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 all being experiences you can only play on Windows 10 platforms.
