The best Xbox One games you can buy

The Xbox One has been around for 2 years in South Africa. During its time on the market, it has been graced with some rather great titles.

If anything, its exclusives are what makes the console so appealing.

Here are the best games you can get on your Xbox One, if you own one, or if you are looking to pick one up soon.

Gears of War 4

Let’s be honest for a minute here, the Gears of War series hit a wall a while back, with so many releases on Xbox 360 it become a case of copy-and-paste.

This all changed in Gears of War 4, as the game finally got a refreshing new engine, characters, and some cool new enemies to saw in half.

Gears of War 4 is the reboot, but at the same time it still keeps that Gears of War charm we enjoyed, without feeling like too much of the same thing.

If you own an Xbox One, then Gears of War 4 should be on your console already.

Forza Horizon 3

I am sure you have seen it already, but Forza Horizon 3 could be one of the best racing experiences to date.

Set in Australia, the game takes players across various ecosystems as they race in the Outback, through the jungle, and across the Great Barrier Reef.

Forza Horizon pushes the limit with over 300 cars, a massive open world that look stunning, and the new co-op campaign that sees you drive around with your friends and get up to all sorts of nonsense.

This is the racing game of the generation.

Quantum Break

What do you get when you take a live action show, some third person shooting, and the power to bend time to your will? You get Quantum Break.

The game is one of the better action games out there that manages to take the classic James Bond-like story and turn it into a action packed shooter.

You play as Jack Joyce, who has gained the power to manipulate time itself. As you fight off Monarch Solutions who set out take you down, you learn the truth that they want to control time to use it for a great evil.

You will come into contact with some notable characters as well as put your feet up and watch some of the best live action scenes in gaming, where you will see the actors continue their roles outside of the typical game environment.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

There no doubt about it, Halo is one of the greatest FPS series to ever grace the gaming industry, and with all of them in one package, you cannot go wrong.

The bundle includes all 3 Halo games as well as over 100 multiplayer maps to enjoy with your friends.

Halo 2 has been remastered in the collection with remodeled environments, improved textures, and lighting effects.

You can also switch instantly from the classic engine running the games to the remastered one, to see how it all really looked back in the day if you ever missed out on the games.

Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac Games, the creators of Ratchet and Clank, moved over to the Xbox One and worked on a pretty awesome open-world action game called Sunset Overdrive.

This over-the-top adventure sees you head into a city overrun by the OD. The OD are humans who have been transformed into strange creatures due to a drink called Overcharge.

The game is filled with epic traversing mechanics, crazy weapons and costumes, and some of the most hysterical moments in gaming. If you are looking for a great open world game, that sets itself apart from those typical “tower climbing” titles, then this is for you

Rare Replay

The Rare Replay collection on Xbox One has to be one of the best collection of games you can ever find on console. The game is a collection of 30 classic Rare games, with the likes of Banjo Zazooie, Viva Pinata, and classics like Perfect Dark.

The collection also runs off a client where you can unlock videos from the behind the scenes of the development of these titles.

All the games also support achievements and cloud save support, so if you played any of the Xbox 360 versions, you will then be able to continue from where you left off.

Ori and the Blind Forest

You get indie game that really make an impact in your life, and Ori and the Blind Forest is one of those games. The game’s painted look and feel bring a new level of detail to a platforming adventure.

You play as Ori, a mystical forest creature who sets out to bring back life to the lost Blind Forest.

You venture into remarkable dungeons to retrieve the lost life source of the forest. You will level up Ori, and learn new abilities as you go about this adventure.

Face the darkness, and bring life back to the forest.

Halo 5: Guardians

Halo 5: Guardians might not have the best single player story ever told in a Halo game, but its multiplayer is the highlight of the experience.

Halo 5 has received some massive content in the multiplayer department, with new maps, modes, and overall customization options.

It is really a great experience that should be on everyone’s must-play list.

The multiplayer is one of the most polished and balanced experiences I have ever had, and with the various modes and REQ packs to unlock, you will be busy for a long time.
