Those looking for a new Xbox One title to keep them warm during the current winter chill will be glad to know that local retailers have a handful of games for Microsoft’s console on sale this week.
Mortal Kombat X – R251
Mortal Kombat X is friendly both to casual players who want to experience its rich suite of single-player content and knock around with some friends, but deep enough for competitive players who want to plumb its roster and variations.
It’s a robust, feature-rich competitive fighting game that hones what’s worked for NetherRealm Studios in past games,

Homefront: The Revolution – R165
OK, Homefront: The Revolution isn’t the best FPS around – it definitely has its shortcomings – but for under R200, it’s a fun experience for the admission fee.
The game takes place after the events of the first, and thrusts players into the boots of a revolution soldier tasked with taking back the USA from Korean occupation.

Batman: Arkham Knight – R249
Much like Christopher Nolan having to achieve expectations and bring a climactic close to his Dark Knight film trilogy, developer Rocksteady had a massive task at hand to send the Arkham trilogy off with a bang.
The result is Arkham Knight, which features everything we love about the franchise, peppered with some new elements to mix up the bad-guy beatdown sessions a bit more; and Rocksteady’s final game for the franchise did the caped crusader proud.

Quantum Break – R280
Part video game, part TV show, Quantum Break puts the old time-travel hypothesis to the test: can you change the past?
Remedy’s action game makes time not only a tool, but a weapon for the in-over-his-head protagonist Jack Joyce, and the result is something quite unique and spectacular. It’s not the longest game in the world, but a great addition to any third-person shooter fan looking for something with a unique hook.
Quantum Break (Xbox One) – R280
Sunset Overdrive – R165
The only thing comparable to Sunset Overdrive is a Tony Hawk Pro Skater game… with guns and monsters.
The explosive and stylised world of Sunset City may be overrun with mutant zombies, but its fun gameplay mechanics and forward-thinking story push it beyond the usual run-‘n-gun scenario.
Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One) – R165.
