Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PS5/Xbox Series X

5 July 2022

According to Tez2, a frequent Rockstar Games insider, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be getting a native PS5 and Xbox Series X version at some point in the future.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is already playable on the next-gen consoles through backwards compatibility. However, the game is not optimised to fully utilise these consoles’ capabilities.

While Tez2 confirmed that these remasters are planned, the leaker added that they are unaware of a release date.

Given the game’s general acclaim and the massive number of copies it has sold, it would make sense for Rockstar Games to port it over to the latest generation of consoles.

This is also likely because porting games to the latest-generation platforms has become a trend, with high-profile titles like The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto 5 getting remasters recently.

Therefore, it is not too much of a stretch to believe that Rockstar Games is planning to remaster the well-regarded and highly-profitable Red Dead Redemption 2 to the latest generation of consoles.
