Kinect required for Xbox One, coming to PC

Xbox One Kinect

The recently revealed Xbox One console will require its new Kinect camera when in use.

Explained on the Xbox news wire, the camera is said to be important to the gaming system, and will help with the console’s implementation.

“The all new Kinect is now an essential and integrated part of the platform,” said Microsoft. “By having it as a consistent part of every Xbox One, game and entertainment creators can build experiences that assume the availability of voice, gesture and natural sensing, leading to unrivalled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for you.”

Microsoft’s corporate vice president of interactive entertainment business, Ben Kilgore, also said that the new Kinect would become available for PC “at some point down the line.”

There are no specific reasons for why exactly the Kinect needs to be connected to the Xbox One in order to play, but more details of its integration should emerge at E3 2013.
