Microsoft’s new console is finally out in the open – the Xbox One will mark the next-generation for the company, and its reveal event brought some interesting announcements that left some smiling, and some a little confused; but what were some of the tweets, opinions, and critic responses flying around on the Internet?
There were a few topics of discussion, particularly in regards to:
The sheer lack of game announcements
“It’s like they’re TRYING to alienate the crowd that actually plays these games of video. And with their deal with EA Sports they’ve already guaranteed sales to 50% of dudebros.” – Kotaku commenter Guybrysg-20X6
“This #xboxreveal reminds me of the time MTV stopped playing music and went to reality shows instead.” – Mordekaiser
“They should just go ahead and call it BroBox One, Sponsored by Mountain Dew. #XBoxReveal” – Twitter user RobSheridan:
And YouTube user Darkbeatdk put together a summary of the show:
Call of Duty: Ghosts – and by that, we mean the dog:
“Excited about this “fish will swim out of your way” tech. Too many years of fish not moving. #xboxreveal” – Twitter user Mike Still on Call of Duty: Ghosts’ presentation.
“We focused on improving the human element of Call of Duty.” *Adds a dog* #xboxreveal #xboxone
This prompted expert analysis on the Internet’s level of tolerance following the overflow of dog:
About the mandatory Kinect connection, and the fear that Xbox One will kill you:
“#XBOXONE THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE. ALL OTHER XBOX MUST BE KILLED. XBOX ONE WILL ABSORB THEIR POWER. XBOX ONE MUST DEVOUR. XBOX ONE IS STRONG.” – HORSE WHO,M DO MURDR
“If #Kinect2 doesn’t see my heartbeat does that mean I’m dead?” – Adam (@AdamUPNOW12h)
About the name:
“I can’t wait to accuse the local GameStop clerk of lying to me when I ask for an “Xbox 1” and he says it’s not out yet… #XboxOne” – Josh Olin
And Twitter user Smokey_Da_Zombie put some pressure on Microsoft to deliver, and established that he may in fact be a zombie… and high.
“#Xbox720 Better Be The S**t , Since Word On Net Is Its Coming Out In 2 Yes Fellow Gamers 2 Parts” – Smokey_Da_Zombie.
What about that controller?
Former Epic Games designer Cliff “Cliffy B” Bleszinski made arguably the most important observation that everyone else seemed to have missed:
“And I’ve heard no one mention that we will no longer accidentally hit the round X “jewel” button any longer. Thank Christ.” – Cliff Bleszinski
What about you?
