Xbox gamers subscribed to the South African Xbox Live Gold service will be glad to know that they are eligible for the Games with Gold programme and will be able to download free games when they become available on Xbox 360.

The issue of whether SA would receive the free games or not arose after a MyGaming forum member pointed out that he had been using the SA Xbox Live marketplace and was unable to download Fable 3, the first free game of the programme.

A Microsoft representative confirmed to MyGaming that South Africa falls into the category of participating regions and those SA members will have access to the selected titles free-of-charge.

Microsoft recently detailed its Games with Gold initiative, explaining that Xbox Live Gold members will receive a new free downloadable title on the 1st and 16th of every month.

“Each specially selected, fan-favourite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what,” noted Microsoft.
