With Microsoft’s new Games with Gold programme, gamers were supposed to get Defense Grid: The Awakening as their first free game on 1 July, however, the game is yet to arrive on the SA Xbox Marketplace.

After speaking with Microsoft SA, MyGaming was told that there were issues with the game hitting the marketplace worldwide, and that many gamers across the globe were experiencing the same problem.

Microsoft SA also confirmed that if Defense Grid: The Awakening doesn’t arrive on the SA marketplace, another game will be available as compensation.

Many MyGaming readers expressed their feelings regarding the Games with Gold delay on the forums.

Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb was also apologetic about the disappointment gamers showed with the Games with Gold titles.

Microsoft recently detailed its Games with Gold initiative, explaining that Xbox Live Gold members will receive a new free downloadable title on the 1st and 16th of every month.

“Each specially selected, fan-favourite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what,” noted Microsoft.
