Xbox Live game prices will be going up: beta feedback

10 July 2013

Microsoft is currently testing the beta of its new Xbox 360 dashboard, and with it comes the dropping of Microsoft Points in exchange for the actual currency system.

The update will transfer XBL beta users’ current Points into their respective regional currency the moment you try and make a purchase.

The issue identified is that the converted MS Points value doesn’t correlate with the new Xbox Live game price points, according to users participating in the beta.

  • 1600MSP games are now £14.99; previously this was the equivalent of £13.60
  • 1200 MSP games are now £11.99, previously £10.20
  • 800 MSP games are now £8.99, an even bigger increase – previously this was £6.80
  • 400 MSP games are now £4.49, previously £3.20

So the conclusion is that spending your MS Points before the new update is probably the best option. If any SA gamers are participating in the new dashboard beta, let us know your experiences so far.

I had 4760 points in my account and was converted to R 675.95 which isn’t to bad but the problem now is that some of the contents prices has also increased. Here is some SA prices for content on the marketplace
1600MSP games are now R169.00 1200 MSP games are now R149.00
800 MSP games are now R129.00
400 MSP games are now R65.00

As you can see some prices doesn’t make sense but the main problem is when you buy MSpoints from a retailer you wont be getting what you paid when the points are converted back to cash.
