Microsoft wonders if people like the Xbox One

Xbox One news 1

A survey passed around to journalists by Microsoft reveals that the company is rethinking their marketing strategy and asks journalists and media representatives for their view on the Xbox One campaign so far.

The survey asks questions that range from perception of the Xbox One to what people think of Microsoft’s competition. The questions on the survey apparently also change depending on the answers given in the multiple-choice sections.

The questions range from, “How would you describe your overall reaction to what you’ve heard or read about Xbox One?” to “What are the reasons that best describe why you’re not interested in getting Xbox One?”.

One question asks what factored into the respondent’s choice, if applicable, to purchasing or pre-ordering the PS4.

The survey also appears to try gather information about how many other smart devices people own in the living room. Microsoft asks questions about whether people have Smart TV’s or not, or they have set-top boxes such as Apple TV and Google Chromecast.

A particular question asks if survey respondents have seen or read news, reviews and opinions about the Xbox One in the past two months, which coincides with a complete switch in how Microsoft began to market and advertise their console, as well the reversal of many controversial policies in August 2013.

It also matches up with the period in which marketing and evangelism of the Xbox One brand was taken up by Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, Director of Programming for Xbox Live. Hyrb has been proactive in marketing the console and responding to questions from Xbox fans in a similar manner to Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida.
