In a post on the Xbox Wire blog, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi said that over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013.
Microsoft claimed that the Xbox One was the fastest selling console in the US during November.
Microsoft’s Xbox One is certainly in high demand, with numerous reports coming in since launch of the console being sold out at retail.
Heading into 2014, big games for Xbox One include Titanfall, Watch_Dogs, Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Destiny, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, and The Elder Scrolls Online.
The last time Sony claimed numbers, it was that 2.1 million PS4 consoles had been sold as of 3 December 2013.
As of 13 December the PS4 is available in 48 countries, while the Xbox One has reached 13: PS4 dominates worldwide reach versus Xbox One
As for South Africa, we really have no idea beyond speculation as to when the Xbox One will be officially available. Currently it is thought that SA may be part of a fourth wave of rollout, putting out launch as far away as Q3 2014: Xbox One confirmed for SA in 2014
