Microsoft South Africa launches the Xbox One

22 September 2014

Microsoft South Africa officially welcomed the arrival of the Xbox One in the country on 22 September 2014. The console goes on sale to the public on 23 September, and will come in two bundles: one with Kinect and one without.

The standard bundle is selling for R6,299, while the Kinect bundle retails for R7,999.

At an event held at Microsoft’s local offices in Johannesburg, the company promised massive explosions of happiness if you buy a console, while punting the Xbone’s exclusive games – such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Forza Horizon 2, and Sunset Overdrive.

For Call of Duty fans, your DLC for the game will be available first on the Xbox One.

Now, as the console launched almost a year ago in the States, there is not a lot we do not already know about it. So, here is a small summary of everything you need to know about the Xbox One in SA:

Under the Microsoft console’s hood, the following hardware is running your games in (mostly) 1080p.

Xbox One Specifications

GPU 853MHz
RAM 8GB
Storage 500GB
Video Output 720p, 1080p

Plus, Rocky gives the Xbox One the thumbs up.
