If you’re in the market for an Xbox One, and want to pick up a TV to play it on at the same time, FNB and Samsung have a couple of bundles you may be interested in.
Samsung has teamed up with FNB to offer prospective gamers looking to make the leap to the now-gen an opportunity to get in on the fun with two bundles packaging an Xbox One with a fancy TV for R599 and R949 per month.
The bundles are available to qualifying FNB customers through the bank’s smart device portal, payable over 24 months. You will also need a valid TV licence.
Typically these sorts of bundles charge interest over time, so naturally you’ll end up paying 11%-13% more than if you bought all the components separately, once-off.
If that sounds like something you’re keen on, then have a look at the tables below where we detail the full bundle and separate component costs.
Samsung 40″ LED TV bundle – R599 per month (24 months)
| Component | Price | Bundle price |
| Xbox One (500GB + controller) | R5,699 | |
| Xbox One controller | R579 | |
| Fifa 15 | R679 | |
| Samsung 40-inch LED TV | R5,999 | |
| Total | R12,956 | R14,376 |
With this bundle, paying the price of R599 per month over 24 months means you’ll be paying 11% more than what you would if you bought all the components in one go.
Samsung 48″ Curved TV bundle – R949 per month (24 months)
| Component | Price | Bundle price |
| Xbox One (500GB + controller) | R5,699 | |
| Xbox One controller | R579 | |
| Forza 5 | R499 | |
| Samsung 48 inch Curved LED TV | R13,299 | |
| Total | R20,076 | R22,776 |
Paying the price of R949 per month over 24 months means you’ll be paying 13% more than what you would if you bought all the components separately.
FNB usually gets a lot of flak for having an ultimate price that’s higher than the RRP – but when you’re looking at bigger numbers up to R20,000, it actually doesn’t seem that bad.
