Xbox One controller remapping a part of the New Xbox One Experience

Xbox One Controller - Remappable buttons via NXOE

Thanks to a tweet from Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, we’ve been excitingly awaiting button remappability for all current Xbox One controllers.

Well, according to a ‘New Xbox One Experience Preview’ post made on the Xbox One subreddit, it will be included as part of the New Xbox One Experience (NXOE) and has been included in the latest preview update for NXOE preview participants.

Apparently, while not included in the update itself, it’s an optional update that will allow you to remap the buttons of your Xbox One controller, even if it’s not an Elite Wireless Controller.

According to those who’ve tested the update out, it allows you to remap more than just the face buttons. It adds “adds a whole new menu… custom button mapping, stick inversion, trigger swapping etc.”

That and the promise of a much smoother and quicker user interface has us hotly anticipating Windows 10’s integration into the DNA of the Xbox One.

The backwards compatibility is nice too.
