District 9

After hearing from my friend that there is a fair amount of gore in this movie, I decided to give it a miss.

Not keen on the Apartheid-tactics aspect either.
 
Haha, I HATE gore, but this wasn't disgusting gore. It was more funny gore. Like a single bolt of lightning and you just see red splatter. I never cringed once and I'm a wuss :D

And you'd really do yourself a disservice by not watching it. It's not your typical "racist-oh-noes!" type movie.

Bro take my word for it ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT!. Yeah there is a bit of gore but like Lydon said nothing too bad. And i was worried about the apartheid-theme thing but it actually threads around the topic very carefully. GO watch it, if u dont like it you will be the first person ive met who didn't.

That's the spirit ... diss it before seeing it.

Tell me, why would a white south african want to bring up apartheid and showcase it to the world? If anything - it has an underlying tone of the zimbabwean/somalian xenophobia problem we faced.

Those interviews were hilarious. "If they were from another country we would understand, but they aren't even from this planet." xD!

I have a theory of what Blomkamp really did with this movie but i'll keep it to myself as some might think me racist.

that was my initial reaction when i found out what the movie was about

but most ppl seem to give it good reviews, so i'll watch it sometime soon
 
Watching it for the fourth time now. 3 time at the cinema's, then got a decent copy which i downloaded, Now I cant wait for it to be released on DVD. Special Edition!!!!
 
I found someone who Hated it. Yes hard as that seams. My Fiance's sister just rants about how disgusting it was. But honestly all i heard was "blah, blah, blah Im a bitch, blah blah blah."

You say that, a guy I know who'se heavy into movies also didn't enjoy it at all. I urged him to watch it again - because he went in with completely the wrong expectations of the movie.
 
I finally went to watch it yesterday and I enjoyed it. :) It was fun seeing Joburg and hearing the South African accents in such a movie. I'll give it an 8 out of 10. It would have gotten a higher score if it didn't turn into a pure action movie towards the end.
