Heroes of the Storm

Closed BETA begins next month by the looks of it. After the wait I had for Hearthstone I'm not gonna hold my breath for it. I'll get it when I get it....
 
I got my beta for Hearthstone about 3 days after it launched so i'll hold my breath :D and just got my mount for WoW from Hearthstone :D
 
Sorry for the necro, but it's relevant: I just got an invite to the technical alpha! Woot! I'll have something to report on the game once it's downloaded.

Been watching quite a lot of youtube vids of gameplay and it looks fun, but it looks like unless you're playing with a group of friends working together it not so good.

Still waiting for my invite to finally get a chance of playing it myself.

This is true, but I am hoping that me receiving an invite is a sign of Blizz opening up the alpha further. This should give my buddies a chance to get in.

I also just got my invite ! played through the 1st 2 tutorials this morning before work and it seems really cool so far, I like the feel of the movement and such and the way you share levels / kills etc. Will get into proper matches tonight though.

My invite did seem to correspond to me renewing my WoW sub though ?

***This is not confirmed and I cannot be held responsible for, but not limited to, loss of money, time & temper for any people re-subbing to WoW with no HoTS invite

I have never subscribed to WoW.
 
Pretty keen to have a few proper games of HoTS tonight, think the mechanics of it are pretty cool, and knowing who all the heroes are helps also

So buy an authenticator from incredible connection for R50. I've never had an account hacked. Mmm.

My biggest worry about this game is the monetization model. That will probably be make or break. If I can buy everything in game (cosmetics aside) for $60 or with realistic in-game currency I'll be happy. But I won't be if I have to pay $5-10 per char and there are 50.

I just hope they follow the LoL model, you can unlock all characters just by playing the game and if you want can use real money for characters + skins etc. They better not force us to buy the characters with real money

Better yet, the Dota 2 model of having all the characters (and gameplay related) available while allowing players to buy skins and aesthetics. But I guess that's just a pipe-dream :rolleyes:

Yup, MMOs are just not my thing. I have tried a few, but I just don't understand the appeal of a game where grinding (read: working without fun) is just something that should be accepted before you actually get down to the enjoyable bits. but obviously you and I are in the minority :P

As far as I know this is how it is currently implemented, and should continue as such. Skins are the only things that you have to pay real money for.

Having played a couple of rounds, I can definitely say that I am enjoying this a bit more than Dota. With my short attention span the 10-15 minute rounds work perfectly. I think I need to give it a bit more time before I decide though.

Or if you have an android device just install the authenticator app. :)
