Well, it certainly made it very difficult for enough people in the USA to establish the Simplified Spelling Board.

Also, English isn't a particularly difficult language to learn--innumerable people who speak it as a second language can tell you that.

English is, however, a very difficult language to master--many native speakers still fail to grasp basic rules.

For example, a wall is hard, not a test. A test is difficult

What if it's a wall in a bouncy castle or made of foam?

Regardless, the definition for "hard" is established and it is synonymous with difficulty. Subjective pedantry doesn't make its usage incorrect :)

Especially in its spelling and grammatical corrective-ness.; ESPECIALLY to Afrikaans-primarily-speaking-folk.

What about Swedes, Germans, Danes, Norwegians, Russians, Slovakians, Indians, Greeks, Italians, Portuguese, Spanish...?

Do you primarily speak Afrikaans?

No, I'm primarily English-speaking; secondarily Afrikaans-speaking (albeit poor and shit). I also know bits and pieces of other languages.
I wasn't even remotely involving languages outside my bilingual barrier. Is Afrikaans not derived from German and Dutch thus formed into its current state with minor alterations?

My Bulgarian friend speaks English better than most English people.

There are turnips that speak English better than most English people :p

Afrikaans is primarily from Dutch origins, yes :)

I just meant that Afrikaners aren't the only people who struggle with English, so the "especially" bit is hardly true. Especially if you're comparing Afrikaners' ability to speak the language to those who natively speak it--an unfair comparison to make.

Then I apologise to an English-speaking Afrikaner-Swede like yourself. I should choose my words more carefully in future... :D

To those who do not know; Inga fara is Swedish for: I fucking love you, man.

My response:

I fucking love you too, my son, despite you being older than me.

...Google says Swedish for 'No Danger', probably harm will be good too. So pretty much what you just said.
