I watched the 1st season of Game of Thrones, and then I picked up the books. The 1st season of Game of Thrones was great, but I found the book to be better. All the books are great, with the 2nd being the most boring. Book 5 is awesome.

Try reading all 14 books of The Wheel of Time :D

I started reading from book1 again recently, because I know there are a lot of small things I missed. Reading the books again I pick up on a lot of things because I know they are important later on. It might take me quite some time though :3
And book 10 and 11, those are so boring -.-
 
I've read Wheel of Time up to book 9, but it got very political at that stage, so I did get bored with the story.

Figured I'll wait till the whole series is finished, which it has been now?

That would be book 9 and 10 for me, book 10 in particular, put me on a 6 month reading hiatus :rolleyes:.

Indeed it is complete. Finish book 9, read a summary of book 10 and carry on from book 11. That's what I tell everyone who is near that point. Let me tell you now, you're not going to be the first person to legitimately like Book 10, it's literally +900 pages of nothing and going nowhere slowly.

Maybe it was 9 and 10 then, I can't really remember, was such a long time ago that I read those, I just remember that there were 2 books that were hell to get through.

Books 12 - 14 are all great and move at a lot quicker pace. You can clearly see the influence Brandon Sanderson had on the books, but I liked all 3. Could not put them down until I finished them.

Book 12 - 14 were really great for me as well. The pacing was brilliant, and the shift in writing style was exactly what I needed.

I've finished "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner last night. I couldn't help but draw comparisons to "The Hunger Games" but I enjoyed Maze Runner more. Both Hunger Games and Maze Runner are young adult books (and I am far from that), but Maze Runner just seems to be aimed at a slightly younger audience than Hunger Games. That said, for me it held the tension and mystery more effectively than Hunger Games.

And now I have started "World War Z" by Max Brooks but I am not nearly far enough into the book to make any sort of judgement yet.

Definately a case of Don't Judge a Book by its Movie

World War Z is epic, I managed to snag both that and Zombie Survival Guide on special from takealot and don't regret in the least. World War Z is written in such a way that you can quickly reread it agian between books just because its so awesome and such a light read :)

When you're done reading World War Z, I highly recommend watching the "Everything Wrong with: World War Z" video, even if only to introduce you to the epicness that is CinemaSins :P


EDIT: my bad, was actually thinking of the Honest Trailer for it, the book references :P

Almost finished with the Warcraft series. Currently on Beyond the Dark Portal which is funny because this falls into the same timeline as the new World of Warcraft expansion.

I struggle to read Koontz because of his pompous writing style. He uses the most obscure and strange words to describe the most mundane tasks like walking,sleeping and whatever else he wants to make difficult for the reader. I remember having to stop mid sentence and try and determine what the hell he meant, and I remember having to skip sentences because his meaning was just too confusing. At least that is how it was during the years of 2000-2006. Writing should be concise and easy to read not something difficult and tiring.
