Make your DLC free - that's an order

Yeah, frankly getting sick of these. But it has since become the norm. This is why, when buying a title I take this into consideration and budget for the season pass, get it all on release day (granted I only bother with the DLC/SeasonPass if it's enticing enough).

Whenever I see DLC comments lately I get reminide of this:

Oh and DLC's is also the reason I normally buy games a year late... GOTY editions FTW.

While it;s nice that CD-Projekt is giving away all the DLC, it's not really smart from a financial standpoint. They should charge for it - but making sure that the price points are done properly.

If you want a proper DLC release compnay, look no further than Paradox Interactive. they release a crapload of DLC, and I would probably buy every single one (if it increased my enjoyment of the game). The Europa Universalis games (and HoI, CK & Victoria) can have a totally different atmosphere when you buy the various song packs/unit look packs. I never play with Italians, French or Spanish so I would never get those DLCs, but would buy and Byzantine, Ottoman or Eastern packs they release (I have them all currently).

All their DLC needs to be bought, but there is no hard feelings from their customers because of the nature of the DLC (and the price).

Don't blame the shitty companies. Blame the shitty customers who support them. They're the reason why it keeps happening and keeps getting worse.

On the Steam forums for every customer who is indignant about shitty DLC practices, you've got two more people defending it. Just go have a look at ArmA3 where they recently released two choppers for $15. In a game that was already sparse on content compared to its predecessors.

Not sure about that - it buys a certain level of loyalty.

I'm much more likely to buy a title from CD Projekt immediately at 50% off on sale. A EA game in contrast..."screw this sht I'll wait till the GOTY is 75%+ off". God knows how many shtty DLCs are going to be released between now and the end.

Made that mistake once...but a major vendor game early...ended up paying a couple times the price I would have with a bit of cunning.

Realistically all the studios are going to get screwed by piracy...so for a smallish studio its better to commit to the core audience & trust them (DRM) and display trust (free DLCs).

If your name is EA then yes you can sell a $5 digital paint DLC for guns....

This

If I had a table set up outside with different turds selling for R20. If nobody bought my turds, I'd probably find something else to sell. If people were lining up to buy my turds (even if a few were like "dude, these are turds wtf"), then I'd definately be putting more fibre in my diet and getting these turds out regularly.

Its purely market forces. look no further than the consumer for why theres day 1 dlc and the like. TotalBiscuit (cynical brit) did a very good video on it, which I think is floating around on the forum somewhere, will try find it :P
