SA’s entry-level broadband prices are not too bad

What exactly are we talking here?

A SIM card with 500mb or a basic uncapped fixed line?

Good point. You can buy a 10mb data bundle for next to nothing. Doesn't mean you can do anything with it, but it is still cheap and broadband.
I think they are talking ADSL however, since the article refers to "residential broadband".

I have top wonder, if this is referring to entry level dsl packages, if it takes the cost of line rental, plus voice line rental into account, or if it's just the cost of the account. These days line rental costs more than bandwidth. If fact the DSL line rental is only slightly less than you pay for an uncapped account, but you have to add R200 or so for the voice line rental, whether you want a voice line or not.

Think of what better connection* we could get if we did not have to pay that R200.

True dat, I'm on a 2mbps line (that's what my budget allows). Could upgrade to 4mbps if I didn't have to pay the voice line.

Currently my phone isn't even plugged in :wtf:

Mine neither, my cell phone was acting up this weekend and I wanted to call my folks, so I had to scrounge around in the cupboard to find the telephone, and stand in the corner of my kid's playroom to make a phone call. I can't remember the last time before that I actually used line for a phone call.

I've actually got it mounted on the wall, but plugged it out after the umpteenth sales call at 9'o clock in the evenings
