Updating During Loadshedding

Guys, just got a PS4 and I'm looking forward to setting it up later - I'm only worried about one thing...
what if the power goes out while I'm installing the first update?

Do you think it's safe? Will it brick my PS4 if it happens?

I'm pretty sure the PS4 has measures in place for such an event.
If the power did go out during the firmware installation, I think you can boot from safe mode and install the firmware using a USB drive.

Well it actually downloads before it installs. And it's not firmware, just updated software. In other words a patch. Very little chance of getting a borked system because of it.

Yeah, I realise now I had nothing to worry about - I can download the patch in the background and install no problems. :D
Thanks guys.

You don't want it going off during the update as it installs, that can potentially brick the console. Otherwise it powering off while it downloads is perfectly fine, it will resume when it starts up again.

Hi Guys

From experience the machine will just go into a restoring loop the whole time if the update does get interrupted. This can be fixed with software and the after the repair has been done you just need to reload the PS4 software again. We had fixed a PS4 not too long ago where the hard drive completely failed and we needed to reload all software again.
