PS3 Controller on PC

A lot of Steam games now have controller support, and a lot of the console ports really play much better with a controller, so I went on a mission to get my PS3 controller working.

I found an alternative to the [trojan] MotionInJoy drivers here. They basically make it so that your PS3 controller is detected as an XBox controller.

Enjoy

Thanks man, but that MotionInJoy is a piece of rubbish. The driver will fail to install if it cannot open its google ad's or you don't open the software. Honestly not worth the hassle would rather get Xbox controller.

Exactly - MotionInJoy is useless. Which is why I said an 'alternative'

The driver I linked to is an XInput Wrapper for DS3 and DS2 Controllers. No ads. No online connection needed. No problems.

Motioninjoy has been serving me quite well for years. Albeit I'm using an older version which is compatible with my Bluetooth dongle and no internet connection is required.

Yeah i used to try and use those drivers but it was very buggy and unresponsive, ended up buying a wired Xbox 360 remote for R299 or R399 (cant remember) and it works amazingly.

I'm using version 1.2.2.175 of the SCP Drivers. I haven't noticed any bugs or lag so far - though I didn't bother with Bluetooth, just using a USB cable. There seems to be plenty of issues with Bluetooth just by looking at the PCSX2 forums.

A proper PC controller will usually work better in most cases, but I already have a PS3 controller and don't want to spend some extra cash if I don't have to.

Seems like the same experience I had, hence the response:-

We tried it when the PS3 was still mainstream, so it must have had some good bug fixes since then.
