Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 get free upgrades to 10 for first year

Saw this this morning and was liek \:D/
Awwww yeah!

First I got Win8 at a awesome price(R350 when it was first released) and now I get Win10 as a free upgrade.

Also not sure what people's gripe is with Win8.1, I would never go back to Win7.

Where to start, the start menu cumbersome, features are hidden and more difficult to find than in Win7, there's no easy way to get into safe mode unlike previous iterations. I have gotten used to it, but I still don't like it, I much prefer the Win7 experience.

that how i feel about 8 but 8.1 fixed a lot of that stuff. (i wish i could upgrade my work laptop to 8.1 it so much better).

Very awesome of them to give away 10 for free. Despite the changes I'm actually really happy with 8 though, haven't actually followed the news on 10 to see what's going to be different this time around.

but what if I get the free upgrade then have to format a year later? :(

Im not too sure how it would work, but when i got windows 8 i had to link and email address to the account, so im sure there will be something like this with windows 10, then you just keep the same serial i assume?

I love windows 8, and 8.1, iv been using it since the week it came out and iv been extremely happy... windows 10 can only bring good things in my opinion...

... and it's still in development, so there can be so many additions and tweaks to still take place, whereby making the user's experience even better than it already appears to be.

I never looked forward to an OS, just want to try them out; I do now.

This actually looks kind of neat, maybe what Google glass should have been.

That vid looks great, great consept, but, those visuals look almost too great... My feeling is, it'll never look that awesome or be that smooth and stable in reality.

Only checked this out now. Wow! If that's for real, it's pretty amazing. But as you say, it just seems unreal that it would look that good. Here's hoping though :D

Me too, i originally hated 8.

But installed a 3rd party app to bring back the start menu and get away with the tiles setup. It functions exactly like windows 7's taskbar/startmenu now.

Bootup is about 3 - 5 sec upon pressing the power button, huge improvement from win7.

Looking forward to Windows 10, hoping they improve the boot time even more :P

Same here. I absolutely love 8.1. I never used the Start menu all that much to begin with, I just searched the the app I wanted or pinned everything to the task bar. 8.1 fits in nicely with that behaviour.

i cannot wait for this. Its truly exciting. Just got paid and im about to build a gaming pc. I already have an xbox one and im glad I can be able to stream my games to my pc. Finally M$ doing something good for the gamers.

From what I have gathered it would be from XBox to Windows, Windows to Windows phone, Xbox to windows phone, Windows to XBox, etc...

Do you have an SSD in your PC? When i upgraded to windows 8 i also upgraded to an SSD, could not believe the load times :D

I do yes, 256gb Lite-on drive.

Bought another 256GB the other day on special, wanted to have both of them in RAID0 but thought, nah.. overkill in speed.
