Bloodborne: the official thread

I think it will even be different depending on how you played the souls series. If like me you went full on shield and sword, bloodborne will be a completely different beast. But i agree with MalicE, if you haven't played any one in the series, it might put you off completely. You need to be a special type of stupid to enjoy this.

yes, the game play and play strategies will definitely be different, but Dark Souls will give you an idea of the amount of torment you will be letting yourself in for :p

but from what I understand, Bloodborne looks to be the most difficult one of the series now :( :)

Agree completely with what BeoTeK said. I've you've never played a Souls game (or only played DS2) you're gonna be in for a big surprise. The game will be brutally hard/punishing and can become extremely frustrating at times (Demon's Souls cost me 2 controllers) but it is also the most rewarding experience I've ever had with a game.

I think the opening of the Dark Souls Honest Trailer puts it very well: "Some people play games to relax and to have fun, others want a game to fuck them until they love it".

End of March is memory serves, was meant to be this month but delayed (as they do). But I wouldn't go as far as calling it an RPG.

Side note: Looking at the interest that this title is generating, and specifically interest from people that have little to no experience in the Souls series (looking at PythonFSi and brendanvb). I feel that these people will be a huge surprise as to what the game is all about along with the series. It's definitely not a game for everyone, and I will go as far as saying the Souls series is it's own genre.
Now I feel a lot of people who are ignorant about the series will be disappointing when they get this as they aren't used to it. I know people have also been spoiled, specifically those why have only played Dark Souls 2 and this they will get this because they enjoyed their past experience. To which they will be in for a great surprise.
Let's get one thing clear, this game is being developed by FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki having a heavy hand in the development process. The Big M is renowned for his challenging games and the difficulty curve. But in the same process, extremely rewarding. Unless you've played and have experience in the Demon's Souls and Dark Souls series you may not be able to appreciate the greatness of what this game may be. Don't get me wrong, I love this franchise and only try and explain its properties to those that aren't fully aware. Ideally I would like anyone and everyone who hasn't enjoyed these titles to at least try them out and in no means am I trying to make you uninterested in it, just making awareness and creating discussion.

What are your guys' thoughts and opinions?

Ha ok! I've never played any of the Souls series tbh and it wouldn't be my first choice when deciding to buy a new game as I'm much more into survival horror and shooter genre type games. But thanks for your honest opinion. As awesome as it looks it doesn't sound like my kind of game.

i hope this game gets pushed out till end of the year :) now now, put your pitchforks down. I think i will only be able to get a PS4 by year end, and it will KILL ME to know that this game is out and i cannot play it :(

But if you get it late, other people would have done it before so you can see how to do the really difficult sections before you loose a controller :-)

good point. And you want someone that has already waddled through the sea of agony and knows what he's doing to run with you. 2 noobs = swift death

trouble is, once i see the raving reviews i will then be forced to extend my OVERDRAFT and buy a ps4 :(

Yeah man i know the feeling. Got n xbox one and now i have started saving for the ps4 just for this.

i HAD a ps4 (which i bought second hand). but then a deal came up where i swapped it for a brand new XBONE. my buddies are also on xbox so it was a decent decision. but i'm gonna be mighty sad when Bloodborne releases :-(

Well this is the reason I bought a PS4 last year. I just figured sooner rather than later.

Definitely with you on that one... This and when The Last of Us got the remastered edition that made even more sense...

problem is, i am having trouble justifying buying a console for just one or two games. i already have a boner and Pc to cover all my gaming needs. So hoping to find PS4 super cheap second hand.

The thing is, yes I bought it specifically to play one game, that doesn't mean that's the only game I'll have/own/play. Yes you can buy it at the same time of said game, but down the line you will get others to make friends with.

Just like Demon's Souls justified buying a PS3 for one game, so will Bloodborne justify buying a PS4 for one game. IMO, at least.

you guys are a BAAAD influence! i need to unsubscribe from this thread before i spend more money that I do not have :(

why? why dude? why must you torture me so ? :(

Haha, I can't help it. I'm in full hype mode, can't remember the last time I wanted a game this much.

You know you're gonna have to get it, right? It's the return of Miyazaki and the FromSoft A-team. No self respecting Souls fan can resist this. :p
