I'm not going to lie, as a fan of the Mecha genre, it's hard to get into Knight's of Sidonia (I've only seen the 1st episode). The animation style is a bit jarring to me, or at least it'll take some getting used to. Currently watching Mobile Suit Gundam 00

00 is my favourite Gundam series to date, Unicorn being my second. a lot of people bashed 00 for using a different time line and being very similar to Wing but it's still amazing in every aspect.

Knight of Sidonia is a mixed bag for a lot of people, technically it's not 3D CGI as what many people believe it to be. It is actually an older form of animation called "cel animation" prior to PC's becoming used to create anime, cel shading was used. Essentially it is a cut out of a character that is painted and then stuck onto a solid background, then 1000's of photo's are taken of the character and it is eventually transferred to film to make the animation - this of course is a crude explanation but.

This can be seen predominately in knights:

How ever if you can get passed the jarring animation it's actually a very good story and has some very well made combat sequences.

I've used it before, but given that I no longer use myAnimelist at all (except for research) I no longer need it - I keep up with the shows as they air in any case. And I keep an updated spreadsheet of everything I archive, so I know exactly where it is :p

If I had to make a spreadsheet I would work on it for weeks, unless there is a way to take 1000's of folder names and copy them.

Start
Run
CMD
Type in the drive you wish to use :H :E etc.
Then type dir> filename.doc
this will create a doc file with all the other folders in the drive.

I did mine the hard way - and it did take a good couple of days. This is my sheet - none of the current shows are in there, quite simply because I keep them organised in a single directory until they are completed.

I had to do this because I had my shows spread over several drives, retail DVDs, and nearly 300 DVD backups and it became impossible to find anything - which is a massive pain for anyone with a habit of rewatching things.

All I can say is you got dedication. Maybe one day when I have the time I will go into detail like that but like you said with so much it takes a while.

OMFG! YOU HAVE VIDEO GIRL AI ON DVD?! :O that must be super rare now.

I think I got it from Animeworx at rAge 5 or 6 years ago - I honestly can't remember. Was mixed into their bargain DVDs. Saw it and grabbed it.

Lucky find! Been looking all over for it for years, but always seem to find it second hand and people are sceptical to ship to SA. Also the condition of the disc's could also be problematic. AFAIK VIZ media owns the rights but no longer prints the DVD's.

With good reason though. With the Post Office being the mess that it is orders aren't getting through (I've written off R2,000 worth of orders), and we might reach a point again where companies like Amazon and Rightstuf decide to no longer ship to SA.
 
Shadow u still got that Evangelion tin edition you got from kalahari like 3 years ago? :D was just cleaning my room last night and found it. Box is rusted to hell and back tho

I have been lucky with no packages missing but Amazon no longer uses SAPO so I have to make sure I order to cater for the postage, otherwise I end up ordering items that cost less than the shipping.

Let's not get into the pricing these days, the Japanese limited edition of Fate UBW Bluray box 1 has a retail price of：$398.98 according to the website and Rightstuf lists it at: $413.98.

3 years? lol dude ... we bought those back in 2009 xD Your sense of time is a bit screwy :p (And it was Takealot we got it from - Take2 back then)

It's Aniplex US - I think you'll find anything licenced by Aniplex is outrageously priced. And it's always some of the heavy hitters - Fate, the Monogatari series, OreImo. Basically, as soon as I hear Aniplex licensed something, I get depressed, and I start looking out for UK or Australian licenses. I ended up getting the Manga UK DVD versions of Bakemonogatari, which set me back about £40 excl shipping.
 
I can deal with good anime (I love it), I can deal with bad anime (I either keep watching for how terrible it promises to turn out, or I leave and cut my losses). What I can't deal with (frustratingly so), is anime that has great promise, an interesting plot with intriguing plot devices, interesting magic systems, but instead gets bogged down in silly anime tropes such as consistent harem and ecchi gags in an unnecessary attempt to get your attention instead of fleshing out its good points:rolleyes:.

One such anime is Seiken Tsukai no World Break. The sadness I feel when I think about how interesting the magic system is in terms of the action sequences it can set up, and how it can act as a plot device...
