I'm a newbie gamer. I want an easy PC game can I start with. I don't want to have to go through a ton of tutorials before I can play the game :D.

LOL, the sims?

J/K, you should be able to start with any game you want, just set it to easy/beginner and practice. At least practicing is fun :D

Your laughter is a bit premature Ghost ... you haven't seen me play Quake yet. Took me a solid 10 minutes to figure out how to get up a flight of stairs :D :o

Dude, most of us truly learned to play FPS games with Half Life1. Get a copy of that, play and finished and you should know how to work the mouse and keyboard. :D

I agree with Sharkbait..its the perfect starting point for noobs;)
Then once you've clocked it maybe try something like unreal tournament against bots(from Baby settings to my level God Like:D) Then once your bored of that get a copy of Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare and I promise you that you'll never look back!!

You youngins are making me feel old. I learned to play FPSes on wolfenstein 3d. (And then Doom, then Duke Nukem 3d, and then Quake, and only THEN HL1) :p

Roman, do you have any particular type of game that you're interested in? (Examples : First Person Shooters, Turn Based Strategy, Realtime Strategy, RolePlaying Game, Simulation etc.)

Those games you mostly played with the keyboard only, especially doom. :p but the reason why I said HL1, iirc was the first game where you really use the "strafe"(dunno how to spel :o) keys and started using W,A,S,D instead of the arrow keys.

Thanks guys, your advice is great.

@Xarog: role playing
Do you have any objection to playing older games, then? It's hard to find a RPG these days that doesn't have a learning curve involved. :(

No, that would actually be Quake 1. :P

All you had to do was type +mlook in the console. From then on all your mouse movements would be "look" movements. Then you could easily make left and right strafing movments instead. And since Quake was the first FPS to use true 3d rendering, it meant that looking up and down at extreme angles didn't distort the image at all. This is also the reason why the first truly great deathmatch game was Quake. (Daaaamn that takes me back. :D)

How old are you Xarog(Just joking)
Im a huge fan of Duke nukem 3D...i can still play it(with 1 eye shut)!!

Not everyone knew about this... I do agree with you, would even go so far as to say that if you had GL Quake, it's more fun multiplayer than HL1 was... :eek:

Nice post Xarog. I remember that, but I also remember totally hating the concept when I first tried it out:rolleyes:

My suggestion is either a simple shooter or a fun adventure game like Monkey island... (which is still the coolest ever to walk the earth...if games could walk.)
