Official Battlefield 4 Thread

V-Sync off and game runs better, but stutters are still very much an issue. Need to get a new motherboard and install both sticks of RAM.

Hi all,

My friend is also experiencing stuttering problems in BF4.
He tried all the above mentioned +
- unparking his cores,
- setting all graphical settings to low/off,
- driver cleaned and fresh install of amd drivers and directx (the directx that came packaged with bf4 folder)
but still stuttering. =/

Any ideas on what else to explore?

His specs:
- core i5 3570K (not overclocked)
- 8GB 1600mhz RAM (think they are G skill ripjaws) @ 1.5V
- Sapphire AMD HD 7770 OC
- 7200rpm HDD.
can't recall his motherboard.... MSI z77 something

My stuttering lessens when using DX11 over Mantle. I've set my settings to default High in the settings; getting at least 60+ fps. Mantle causes all kinds of nonsense. Only jerky(ness) experienced is in the first 5 or so minutes.

Whats your CPU load like when you experience the stutter?

CPU and RAM sit in the 90s.

Constantly in the 90s or only when it stutters? I also had similar issues with stuttering a while back and realised i was maxing out the cpu which caused the stutter. Somehow manage to fix it but can't remember how.

I'll do benchmarking and get back to you.

There is about 80 percent RAM and CPU usage with and without stuttering.

Guys tbh 8gb of ram just isn't enough for BF4 i experienced it, use msi afterburner and use the overlay and switc on the on screen display for mem and ram usage, and you will see as soon as it goes over 6gb you start having problems and the dude that unparked his spu tell him to fix that BF doesn't like it

Battlefield has changed since I last played it. It's more difficult online now, much more. I'm doing really poorly.

The RAM might definitely be part of the problem but i don't think its the main issue here. I mean i had similar issues playing BF4 and i have 16GB of RAM. To me it sounds like the PC can't cope with BF4, either the graphics card not rendering frames quick enough or the hard drive? Many possibilities as to why the game is stuttering.

I dropped my settings down to medium and it's running better.
