Cities Skylines

Yep. SimCity has really ruined a generation of city building gamers with its tiny cities. I keep forgetting that space is not an issue here. I restarted multiple times because of traffic problems and last night I finally built a city that doesn't have as much traffic problems.

Here's a screenshot of my latest city. Link because it's so big.

Looks good ! I really need to get this idea of having everything square out of my head. I think it is the Sim city problem, always think there is not enough space.

Once you realise space is not a concern, you'll find yourself becoming more creative. I'm already like this due to playing a lot of Cities XL.

It's not a SimCity problem so much as I think it's more conditioning and logic that dictates that a grid system is more functional. Let's be honest, it is and it's easier. Change your way of thinking, become more creative. We're conditioned from working like this due to the cramped space of SimCity.

Another thing to remember is walkways. Always build walkways everywhere. You'd be surprised what a difference it makes to traffic if sims have the opportunity to walk everywhere.

I was going swimingly making some new roads (grids with over and under passes), designed it nicely and ready to deploy (unpause) and.....

Spoiler: show

I accidently pressed F4 - Quickload

You guys rolling any mods or workshop items?

Haven't used any yet.

Have read about the No Despawn Mod, stops cars from despawning in traffic, better hope your road planning is good.
There is also the Traffic Report Tool mod.

I did download the Extended Road upgrade tool but haven't enabled it yet. Actually I think thee latest update made this one irrelevant.

That is true.

The biggest thing that's getting to me is the need to constantly bulldoze abandoned buildings, sometimes even clicking on the wrong ones. Think there's a mod for that to clear them all.

Why do you bulldoze them? :wtf: And what makes you say you NEED to do it?

Decided to check out this game.

In general virtually SimCity clone, minus proper views on resources, land value, education, safety, etc.

This game still have problem (or just it is me) with road placement, so no holes or unused chunks of terrain left, ie. exactly 8 zoning cells without any blank spaces in between.

Things seems to grow quite slowly, until I hit 8000 people, then in no time at all I had grown to 22,000, starting to resemble a proper city now
