PSU upgrade

Hi Guys,

So I have a Coolermaster 550/600w PSU (soz can't remember what it is) that is starting to annoy me properly.
This thing is making these whistling noises every few minutes/seconds depending on how it feels.

I have been eyeing the Super Flower 600P Golden Green from Wootware however now that I am ready to buy I see that they are out of stock and according to them it can take about 2 months to get new stock. This makes me sad since this PSU sounded so awesome.
They suggested a Antec 620C Neo Eco which sounds just as good but I would prefer not to go over R1000 for PSU even though I want something decent enough(both sides buttered XD).

Do you guys have any other suggestions?
A buddy of mine suggested I wait a while longer for the Super Flower since my current PSU isn't really dead.

I'm still in two minds

Rig details:
i5-3470 + Hyper 212
Asrock H77Pro4-M
2 x 4Gb Transcend DDR3 1333Mhz Ram
Sapphire DualX R9 270
2x 5400rpm HDDs
1x 7200rpm HDD

You can wait, or you can go with the 620C, since that is Seasonic-made. Either choice is a much better one than your current PSU. I'd prefer Super Flower because the fans they use are double ball bearings, so they're quieter and last longer than brushless fans like those in your Cooler Master unit.

If I were u, don't mess around, save up and get a 1000w PSU.

At least that way u are never limited to crossfire/SLI and multiple HDDs.

Yeah my current PSU is also vrek loud. I thought it was my GPU initially but now I think it's the PSU.
Any other places that would have Super Flower? I see RebelTech don't stock that brand.

TBH, I always think of 1000w PSUs as pure overkill. And I don't see myself going SLI/Crossfire, even though I always get told to do it. I would rather sell my current and get a better single GPU.

With technology becoming more power efficient with every iteration and PSU's getting closer to 100% efficiency, a 1000 W PSU is somewhat wasteful.

Even though CPUs are getting more efficient with power, Gfx always seem to eat power like its goin out of fashion. Also cost of 2nd cards/ per performance still trumps selling ur card and getting a new 1 for the same performance.

Adding a second R9 270 into the mix there won't cross 500W power draw (even with GPU overclocking taken into account). A 1000W PSU is indeed wasteful in this case. 700W with a Gold rating would be more than enough.

Fair enough. Just thought the cost difference would be so negligible that it wouldn't matter really.

I always buy my GPUs secondhand also though. But I see your point, I'm just full of shit :p

Damn these psu's are very expensive I need to replace mine as well .have a Huntley 700w on a HD6990 and its singing like Michael Jackson. So I'm also looking to upgrade to a 750w good brand atleast

Here's a nice video to watch, to avoid the recommendations of more overkill power supplies.
