Totally, you can finish the story solo, with no guild needed. I leveled and finished the game on my ranger solo. Wold bosses and even world events, its not strange to see some random person come to your aid, and if none is in site a quick map message will get loads of people coming to your aid.

Its just more fun to join a Guild, esp if you plan on doing PvP, WvW, Dungeon or other end game content. For that I can recommend dropping me a message to join our guild if you want. Oh and you can join more than one at a time, you can only represent one at a time.

I might look into it then. I have very little interest in "end game". I usually just want to play through a story and be done with it.

hehe, thanks for the heads up, saw you playing it (STEAM, not stalking...you not pretty enough....and female) after the last special and wished I had seen it was on special. Just bought it!

Then you're getting it for the wrong reason... The story is a bit weak, but can keep your interest nonetheless. Each race in the game has a different start to the story, so it's well worth creating a character with each. Apart from the main story line there is also the "living story" which gets updated a couple of times a year, as well as the hundreds of side quests (renowned hearts) and random world events that often chain into smaller quests.

You need to live yourself into the game and enjoy it for the gameplay. It really is more skill-based than most MMO's and you'll realise that when going into PvP. I used to play it almost exclusively, as rounds are quick and it's great for testing out new character builds.
 
Waveform is on special for 95% off. that makes it $0.24. With 3 trading cards you can potentially get this game for free (cards are worth approximately 10c as of writing, will go down obviously).
