Sony Bluray Player repair

I have a Sony 3D Bluray player that I got with my Sony Mgongo surround sound system about a year and a half ago (so just outside of warranty). I think it was damaged by a power surge while I was away over December. When I turn it on, the Sony logo displays on the loading screen and then everything goes blank instead of displaying the Bluray menu. Up to now, I've been using my PS3 for playing DVDs, but it just isn't the same as a proper DVD/BR player.

Any idea where I can have this repaired in Centurion area and how much it might cost?

I've looked at Hifi Corp for the same one but they only have cheap Sony BR Players available and then some decent looking LG and Samsung ones. I prefer to keep this Sony though since it pretty much plays anything I put into it: DVDs from any region, Data DVDs & USB with MP4 files on it, etc. Not sure if the LG and Samsung will perform the same.

Strangely enough my Bluray player also broke over the weekend. :( I also don't know where to get it repaired if it can be repaired. Mine doesn't even switch on.

Also try Rectron. I know they are the Sony SA distributor. I had to send my tablet to them when it started giving me kak

Pretty Hilarious that this topic should come up... I got a Blu Ray Player bundled with my new TV, Its a Samsung one, If any of you guys are interested in buying it? I use my PS4, and really dont want it... Its still sealed in its box... Will find out the model number etc and post a pic if there is some interest...

I was at Makro yesterday to check out options for a replacement player, but all the new stuff only plays region 2. Sony is nowhere to be found (seems they closed down their tv / hifi / camera division in SA).

Looks like they'll be able to send my BR player away for repairs so will take it in today. This helps since I'll be able to pay with my eBucks Makro vouchers. It just sucks that none of the new Bluray players are able to offer me the same features that I had in my 1.5 year old player.

I heard that, at first I thought it was one of those stupid rumors, really surprised. Always loved their Bravia TVs...
