While I play this game with a controller myself (until my fighting stick is done), I don't agree with this statement at all. You can do certain key combinations and sequences MUCH faster on a keyboard than on a controller. Using all five fingers vs only one or two? I think the winner is clear.

Not for me personally, something about the spacing between keys makes it really uncomfortable to play on a KB, never mind performing combos.

So I finished the story mode last night... And it seriously surprised me...

When the game launched i was like, ah come on man, why do we need to introduce the f-ing children... this story is going to be so forced... But WOW... The story is FAR superior to any MK title before this, and I know thats not saying a hell of a lot, but the Story seriously was fantastic...

And The ENDING

Setting things up for a very interesting path forward in my opinion...

All round a fantastic game, I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone who hasnt got it yet... The Faction War is a GREAT addition to the online play, As I finished the Story last night it popped up with a bit "Event" a Faction war has started! And then you get to fight the Faction Boss and earn points for your faction! My only disappointment here was that like EVERYONE has joined the Lin Kuei so its pretty lop sided... But lets see how it progresses...

There is still so much to explore in the game... I havent even touched the ladders, or the other stuff yet...

This is not applicable to this game. In most fighting games movement is digital, it's either on or off, nothing in between. Using an analog controller has no advantage in such a case.

I'm not even referring to the analog stick. It's the fluidity of using one finger to control movement. The smooth motion of using a single digit on a smaller direction pad is far more fluid than four on four separate (and significantly spaced) buttons. Maybe that's just what I'm used to, maybe I just have stupid fingers, but the overwhelming majority of fighting game players that prefer controllers (or arcade pads) to KB+M is indicative of some advantage or at the very least the ease of use (which most would consider an advantage).

As I said, I do agree with you that you could perform combos faster with five fingers on a keyboard than with two or three on controller buttons, but movement is undoubtedly better and more fluid with a controller. In fact, with a different controller mapping, you could theoretically achieve similar speeds to keyboards with combos considering that there are trigger buttons and left and right top buttons.

Edit: This is a really silly argument that actually just comes down to preference. I will qualify my first statement: I would be at a disadvantage using a mouse and keyboard. It's probably because I grew up using arcade sticks and controllers to play fighting games. The few times I tried them with KB+M, I failed miserably. I love KB+M usually and prefer it for many games, just not fighting games. My personal opinion is that a controller or arcade pad would be the best method for most people, but I base that my own perception and is purely speculative. I could be wrong, but the general preference for the use of controllers and arcade pads for fighting games might suggest otherwise.

I totally agree with this sentiment, playing on a keyboard just feels awkward and performing combos is a nightmare. In the end it's very much what each individual is used to.

Thanks for feedback guys, much appreciated. Nice to see these comments and see what different people use and like.

I'm at the Scorpion chapter now and I got to agree, I'm really enjoying the story far. Will probably finish it tonight or tomorrow.

15.4GB patch out on Steam, start those downloads :D

Patch contains shader optimizations and they gave us 10,000 krypt coins for the launch issues. At least they are fixing the game, which I'mhappy wout :)

warning dont do a steam backup :/

Completely borks it. had to get the manifest file and use a 3rd party tool to extract the actual 30gb. if u use steam it still installs the 3gb only and then downloads off the net ;/

and now another update :/

Damn man, thanks for the update. Guess I won't be uninstalling / backing up the game any time soon then, lol.

Finished the story mode last night. It was really good. Might even go through it again.

I hope the shader optimizations fix the performance issues I have on some levels. 10000 krypt coins are insulting though.

Man I'm glad the game auto updated last night. A 15GB download would have been a nasty surprise if I tried to launch it today.

Is everything unlockable without having to pay for microtransactions?
And what is The Krypt?

Should be unlockable, but probably made a bit of a grind. If the Krypt is like the previous MK's krypt, then it's an area where you can unlock stuff using koins earned while playing the game. Unlockable stuff like character bios and skins, sketches and concept art, stage music etc. The previous krypt was divided in four sections if I recall right. Looks like a creepy graveyard, and you unlock the stuff by selecting a particular grave marker. Each grave costs a different amount of coins, and it's a bit of a lucky packet as to what you unlock.
