Which Monitor to BUY

HI all,

I want to buy me a new monitor. Not a TV.

I am looking at the following:

Either a 29" (Preferably)
1.Dell Monitors 29in U2913WM 73cm(29) 21:9 LED monitor VGADVIDPHDMI (2560x1080) Black SAF
or
2.AOC Q2963PM Black 29" 5ms HDMI UltraWide (21:9) LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 300 cd/m2 50,00

that is the 2 x 29". The one has 5ms response but lack in colour. The other has 8ms response but all the rest is very good.

Or should I go for a
1. 27" Asus VX279H 27" LED Monitor
2. 27 "SAMSUNG S27A550HS 27'' LED Monitor

Thank you in advance

Andries

I'm with Joker on this one. Aim for a 16:9 that at the very least support 1920x1080 and has a nice response time and high refresh rate

Why is it useless for gaming?

Its too narrow.

The aspect ratio isn't supported by a lot of games.
Your eyes strain going from left to right at a fast pace (I used my Dell ultra wide for a week and noticed that my eyes would burn, would get headaches almost every day after gaming for a couple of hours).

Client of mine bought 1 for gaming and gave it to me for free because he said "it was the worst gaming experience he has ever had and can't believe something like this can be sold as a gaming monitor."

Oh thanks for that :), I didn't even consider the eye strain it would cause. Always wanted to give it a go, but will just give it a pass now.

What kind of gaming do you do?
For example I w ant to get a new screen for my FPS Games especially CSGO.
And the only requirement for me is a high Refresh Rate !
All kinds :), changes regularly. Been quite busy so just a round or two of dota or heroes of the storm at the moment.

I would say if you just play for fun, and just play games mostly like dota then a High refresh rate is not that necessary. But if you want the competitive edge, especially with first person shooters then refresh rate is important. As they mentioned above, no point in getting a huge screen for gaming

No, huge is good...too wide is bad

Yep already got the monitor I wanted :). After looking at the pros and cons of each kind of screen I ended up going with a Dell 2713HM

Huge is good to a certain point, I tried a 40'' screen as a monitor...headache after 30min :p

Edit: That typo "whistling:

I use a 32" and happy with the size and would find a 40" way too big.

THATS WHAT SHE SAID!

lol I had too sorry...

As long as its a LED, has decent warranty and 8ms most monitors would be good. What I would do if I was u, is google reviews on each of the monitors and see what they say.
