Comic Books

Yeah, also read that, and while it was not bad, it was not nearly as good as Kingdom Come. Didn't read the link, but if I remember right, creative differences between the artist/writer made Alex Ross leave the project or something like that.

Yeah, you're right on that. There are also other occurrences of this world in other comics. I think it'll even bleed into Convergence.

I've started reading Earth 2: World's End, and I'm having a good time thus far. I've also started with Convergence (Also reading Convergence: Superman, and Convergence: Speed Force), and I still have reservations, but I'm liking the concept thus far (it raises a lot of questions though).

Anyway, everyone on this thread should subscribe to these channels on YouTube.

I see you kind of like the whole parallel universe mechanic of comic books. Did you ever get around to reading those Flashpoint issues?

That's quite true, I think one of my favorite sci-fi hooks is the idea of a multiverse (a toss up between that and time travel). The key thing that draws me to the mechanic is the question of how different or similar your favorite or least favorite characters' stories and personalities would be if there are minute or radically different elements or events that play a role in the development of their stories. Look at Flashpoint, Red Son, Earth 2, Earth 3 (a big example with the Crime Syndicate), etc. It's why Fringe still ranks up there as one of my favorite shows.

Oh and I blazed through Flashpoint, effin' loved it! :D

yup. it's bloody weird, but quite enjoying it. for some reason it reminds me of Adventure Time :p

You may have overtaken me with it. I've bought all the trades up to volume 4...I should probably just get onto reading that.

I should probably finish it by next week, then I have to find something new to read :(

I'm really in love with Saga. I'm currently on issue #26 . The comic depresses and delights me all at the same time :D

Yeah man. It gives you the opportunity to explore what you love, without changing what you love.

I'm glad you liked it. Those digital deluxe editions have amazing sketches and artwork in them.

I love this book so much. Fiona Staples is a beast on art!

Any of you guys still following the Mortal Kombats? Really interesting tie ins with the new game :D

I read a couple, I wasn't impressed with the writing, but now I've started playing the game and I am loving the story so much that I am definitely going to read the rest.

Hey mense :)

So this coming Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. Anybody doing something cool that day? Are you perhaps looking forward to a particular book?

I'll try and post a few events that I know about in the thread, in case you feel like attending one.

I know Cosmic Comics have an event.

Reader's Den in CPT normally do something every year, for my Slaapstad comics folks.

Not sure about Outer Limits or Steampunk, if I see something, I'll post about it.

Anyone else know of anything?
