Xbox Live Gold free games - add now download later?

Hi

A mate asked me to add those free Games for Gold on xbox 360 to his xbox live account. (He doesnt have a console yet, only a Gold Live account)
Is it possible to add the games to his account without fully downloading them?
I did add them to the download queue, downloaded for about 5mins, and canceled it.

Can those games be downloaded at a later stage (months later) when he gets an xbox 360?
Or will the games only be added to his game library when the download is 100% completed during the month/timeframe the game is free on Gold

What you've done will work. You just need to start the download and then you can redownload it at any time in the future. I often do this with Gold games and only actually download it much later (sometimes months later).

Is there perhaps a way to check the games on his profile/game library?

When you want to download it later, how do you do it? I just want to make sure the game is added to his library.

You still buy the game in the store, price will be free. Just cancel the download, when you go to that game in the store later, it will say "install" or "download again" (instead of the price) if you own the game.
