So, its started, inXile has launched their kickstarter for The Bard's Tale IV!!!!!! :D:D

Short blurp

  • A single-player, party-based dungeon crawl, rich in exploration and combat
  • Dungeons filled not just with dangerous fights but with challenging puzzles and devious riddles
  • Dynamic phase-based combat, where the pace of battle is animated and fluid, but still gives you time to think and respond to your enemies
  • A game set to beautiful Gaelic music, where the Bard’s songs and melodies affect gameplay
  • Co-funded by fans and inXile: if this game hits its $1.25 million goal, inXile will put in at least $1.25 million of its own money to double the initial budget!
  • Built using Unreal Engine 4, for PC, Mac and Linux. Available from Steam or DRM-Free from GOG.com
  • Available in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Polish
  • Built for and with the help of our fans. Your feedback and input directly impact the design and features of the game during alpha and beta stages

They asking for a measly $1.25mil, they already have R100k

Man, awesome times!

PS: Yes, I know there is a kickstarter thread, this game deserves its own thread.
PS nr 2, lol at them dissing DLCs, free to play and pushing out sequels.

inXile Entertainment is proud to announce an unprecedented

in the first 24 hours of the campaign will receive a FREE copy of
inXile’s Wasteland 2, or CD Projekt Red's The Witcher, or The Witcher

Its all thanks to my gmail on my phone alerting me to torment mail updates! Three games I've now backed from inXile.

But damn, that release date, end 2017... :(

We'll have Torment by year end though....I hope.

Yeah, I had a reminder set on my calendar but I was baby sitting and only noticed it 20 minutes late :P

just curious, when does Kickstarter take the money from you?

Does it get deducted upon transaction or when the project reaches it's funding deadline?

What the Wyzak said, but back it now, the higher they go, the more stretch goals we will get!
Plus if you back it in the first 24 hours, you get to choose to either get a free copy of Wasteland 2, The Witcher, or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

I own all three, but will make a nice gift, esp Wasteland 2.

Cool thanks, sorry for the nub question, I've never used Kickstarter.
Its fine, we'll just point, make rude remarks and laugh at you....but you already get that with the beard...so we'll beat you with sticks instead. :D

Who is this "the Wyzak"? :D

No problemo, we all started there :)

I'm keen cos I've always wanted Wasteland 2 but I must be honest, I dunno what Bard's Tale is. I've never played it in previous glory.

*me points hesitantly to Wyzak.....and runs!*

Boo!

I'm in a similar boat. I never played the original, but I'm a huge fan of Brian Fargo's works and from what I can see the Bard's tale is right up my alley. The bard is very sarcastic, so that's one check. Also, it's a dungeon crawler game, another check. It has puzzles to solve - check! I bought the iPad version of the Bard's tale and just tried it out for a few minutes and it looks like something I can really get into. The reviews are also great 4.5/5 - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-bards-tale/id480375355?mt=8

Have you played the Legend of Grimrock? If you liked it, chances are you will love this as well.

Just keep in mind that The Bard's Tale (that you're playing on IOS) is not really related to The Bard's Tale.

They've passed $900k.

Also, they've upped the time from 24 hours to 48 hours for the free games

Our good friends at CD Projekt Red and GOG.com have graciously agreed to allow us to extend the offer for another 24 hours! Anyone who backs The Bard’s Tale IV on Kickstarter in the first 48 hours of the campaign will receive a FREE copy of inXile’s Wasteland 2, or CD Projekt Red's The Witcher, or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. (until 6/4 at 6am, PST)

Looking good. I'm on the $20 tier atm, but chances are very good that I'll upgrade it to the $50 tier to get the novellas. I really enjoyed the Wasteland 2 Novellas.
