This. You can spend R300 more and get a GTX970 for R5000 which is just way faster. I think people will still be buying this though, but they will be loosing out on the deal I'm afraid.
 
That's exactly it, people are baited buy the saving and discount rather than thinking logically.

There were 16 available when I checked out the deals just before 9AM. Thought it may be a great deal so snapped a photo to send to the SO who knows more than me and explained what those above me stated would be a better buy in that price range [emoji14]
 
The daily deals on takealot aren't that special to be honest. Never trust the amount you save either, because they just make up amounts or show how much it had cost at release.

classic Groupon tactics to ramp up the "old price" and give false impression that the new price is really good
 
I dunno, I've saved quite a bit of money on some of the daily deals, although I'm usually familiar with the product I want to buy so I know if I'll really be saving. Even deals on things like cat food or litter have saved me quite a bit every other month.

A few bucks more? I bought my gtx 970 for less than that overpriced hunkajunk. That takealot deal was a sham. Anyone who bought it got done in well

Those opinions are biased. Sometimes the specials are truly special and well below market price, but sometimes the specials are AT market price. Generalizing about that doesn't help anyone

I've bought a crap load of stuff at Takealot and Kalahari the past few months, and compared the prices to the cost price and saw for myself how they made up a price for the G3258 I bought earlier.

Caught them red handed making up a price and an imaginary savings amount.
The "was" price wasn't the real "was" price.

I now use overseas pricing as a reference for the true value of stuff.

Generalizing helps a lot, since the real specials are actually very rare. Heck a lot of those specials they are running are actually what the items cost the previous few weeks.

It's all about marketing and perspective from their side. The real specials would be the items the want to get rid of, that's nearing EoL or that's about to get replaced.
 
Bought gaming headphones, mainly just for the mic. I do hope the sound reproduction is decent. :)

What gaming headphones did you buy? I still use my Razer Krakens that I won on this very Site! And i love them soo much!

It only cost me R299 (which is a lot of money, yes), but I'm not going to judge it until I've tried it.

Goodluck hope it serves it's purpose for you, I bought a R150 Headset from Logitech and was very happy with the sound.

I received my headset. Build feels durable. Construction is rubber, though I suspect it's only a rubber coating. Will edit this post once I test it out tonight.

Edit: Lol, states "rubber coated" on the packaging. :p
