The Official 2015 Steam Summer Sale thread

Great- I was hoping to hear that. I'm like you then, I really enjoy that old school feel- lots of weapons, badass bosses. I think I've finished Quake 4 3x already.

It's on my Steam Wishlist and I'm just waiting for the price to drop a bit more. :p

I played a "test copy" back in the day and I've been yearning to play it again ever since. I also finished Quake 2 at least 4 times...

Have you played quake 4? I was wondering how it compared to that game play wise. Quake 4 was one of my all time favorites, which is why I'm asking.

Funny, I love everything Quake (I have Quake 1, 2 and 3 permanently installed) but I never liked Quake 4 much...
But yeah, I also like Bioshock and the Battlefield series very much!

Same here, Quake 4 didn't do anything for me. Wolfenstein: The New Order is fantastic though. Great story and great gun play.

So I gave in and bought it... Now for the 12-hour download. :D

On a related note, I played a bit of Homeworld Remastered and it is... AMAZING! I can't think of any game that's captivated me as much as this game has in a long time. The remastered graphics, although not up to modern standards, are good enough. The music and general atmosphere is unbeaten though - closest game(s) would have to be the Mass Effect series.

Bought Wolfenstein: The New Order because I had a test version and I enjoyed the game immensely, so I followed my rule of buying a game that I torrented if I enjoyed it.

Might download and play it again (that download size though). I also want to try The Old Blood, but haven't bought it yet.

Almost bought Watch Dogs....but watched Biskets video again....not for me.

Yup, I was amazed at The Old Blood, bought it from CNA (R150), came on 4 DVD's.
Just checked the install size:
The New Order : 46Gb
The Old Blood : 38Gb

I'm really happy with my purchase of Victor Vran. Despite the terrible name, the game is pretty decent, even in it's current early access state. There's no real story or anything yet, but the game is a lot of fun and surprisingly well polished already. The fact that you can dodge and jump (even wall jump) makes it stand apart from all the other Diablo-esque ARPG's. Each weapon type also has it's own special attacks and while there aren't that many different weapon types (that I have found) there seems to be enough to keep things interesting. You also get countless different variations of each weapon type (with different stats), as is standard with this type of game.

Some people might not like the minimalistic approach to character development (there is no skill tree or stat points to distribute), but I find this approach rather refreshing. It's almost like the reverse of Path of Exile's extensive skill tree. Instead of skills or stats you get Destiny Cards (have special attributes such as heal on crit, etc.) which you can equip within a limit (which increases as you level up) and also demonic powers and other consumables such as bombs. It also has 4 player online co-op, but I haven't tried that yet.

I definitely recommend checking this out if you enjoy games like Diablo, Torchlight, Grim Dawn, Van Hellsing, etc.

After the last post about this I went and checked it out. It actually looks pretty decent. I'm sure you will see a lot more weapons and less grinding once the game is officially released- which seem to be two of the big gripes. I like that you can move with keys and fight with the mouse. That pushes it above a lot of other hack and slash.
The only thing I don't like, from one of the videos I watched is how the architecture just disappears when you move into it. I think a fade would be a lot less jarring, but that's a small complaint.

Wow, I can get 3- 4GB a night, so those would take a month to download!

Respect. That's a good philosophy to have.

Anyone break their finger / mouse yet on the minigame?
So much repetitive clicking...

Nothing to special about the specials so far for me.
I'd like to get Ori and the Blind Forest, but I'll wait and see if it doesn't get a bigger discount later. 20% not that compelling atm.

I just bought myself a autocannon and upgraded it to farming equipment, so it shoots by itself. That has saved me from serious RSI. No I just go on during the boss fights every 10 rounds to mine gold.

Okay that happened to me as well...I thought that was due to the error Chrome was throwing at me.

So I clicked on tonight and it actually loaded and it was a much better experience. there are actually other players now, and I could buy upgrades. It's a silly game, but a good time waster.

Like any other idle game :D

I dont know where in this country of ours you are, but I am in Alberton, Gauteng if you would like to collect the files.

Oh, I grew up in Alberton. There's a speck of a microscopic chance we know each other. :D Thanks for the offer- I'm still deciding whether I should get it or not, but if i do, I'll take you up on that.
