Need for speed 2015 first look coming may 21

EA has officially announced the long-rumoured (and inevitable) next entry in its popular Need For Speed franchise – and this time it is a straight reboot simply titled Need For Speed. Hopefully this is a good thing, as successive NFS titles have haphazardly drifted (pun intended) from their pure arcade racing roots into all manner of driving distraction, some more successfully than others.

Need For Speed will launch worldwide in Q3 2015 (in the autumn) on Origin for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and we are sure we can expect to see more of the game in action at E3 2015 in June.

UK-based Ghost Games is the EA studio behind the development wheel this time around, much of which is made up of previous NFS veterans from Criterion. The pedigree holds up, as according to the (in)disputable Wikipedia, members of the team have variously worked on Forza Horizon, Need For Speed: The Run, Project Gotham Racing and Race Pro.

According to the press stuff, Need For Speed will boast with "deep customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game". Oh dear, perhaps it is not the pure arcade racer we were dreaming of then...

So sayeth Marcus Nilsson, executive producer at Ghost Games: "Need For Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we're returning it to greatness in this reboot.

"Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we've always wanted to. We're listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed."

EA also highlights that it leaned on its own "car culture community" Speedhunters for the research and development of the reboot.

"Need for Speed will deliver an experience that's grounded in authentic car culture by diving into the rich world of past, present and emergent trends of the urban car scene," churns the EA press-bot. "This collaboration with Speedhunters in the research and development of the game means the level of detail and real-world authenticity will envelop gamers in an exciting world to discover and enjoy in a way that only Need For Speed can deliver."

Some Fan art of the NFS3 Logo. Reading comments on GAF it seems like, the new NFS is going to be a complete reboot of the series.

If it is a new installment to the Underground series, I don't think it will be title Underground.

According to some people it's going to be a complete reboot of the NFS series. It's going to be called "Need for Speed".

Of course, like many other studios are doing lately, just call it by its longstanding title and the year of its release.

Need for speed reboot release date and features leak

EA's upcoming Need for Speed reboot will launch on November 3, according to a prematurely-revealed product page.

The since-removed page popped up on Microsoft's Xbox site, and was swiftly screen-capped and posted on Reddit.

The accompanying blurb also reveals several new features we haven't previously heard about. Apparently there'll be five "ways to play" called Speed, Style, Build, Crew and Outlaw.

There'll also be "multiple overlapping stories" enabling you to "carve your own unique path". Meanwhile, the West Coast Urban setting will be a nocturnal open world you're tasked with exploring and dominating.

The reboot itself was only recently revealed, and we don’t know a great deal about the new Need for Speed for now, but we do know this “full reboot” is being built by Ghost Games – the series’ new home in Gothenburg, Sweden – which also developed 2013’s Need for Speed: Rivals.

My word, I'm all flustered, hot and bothered after watching that trailer, it's like watching a girl unveil her boobs for the first time to you....

I hope they deliver on the promise of this though.

Yeah when I saw the video on Monday eve I was like... yes ples! Do want!!!!
The camera angle on the race was annoying though. Game looks so gewd! Please EA don't make this suck.

Oh no, i'm starting to get hyped for this game, and hype is a dangeorous mistress...

But i allready have a problem, that race was a drift attack, I don't like drifting on street roads, I like the specialized areas for drifting, oh well it's not the end of the world, please EA make this good, it may just make me forgive you for all your past mistakes.

Agreed on all of this. The camera that zooms in when drifting bugged me, so I hope they have a option to remove that. Other than that, this game looks utterly fantastic! I was actually shocked to see the lighting and camera effects in action (in a small video window, granted) and you could almost be fooled into thinking it's live video footage at some points.

Normally it's jsut a camera switch like they had in pro street where it's from swivel to bumper or something like that so i think it will be there again. But man i'm really hyped too :D
