Achievement Unlocked - PS2 era car textures.

I have to admit even though the port is schitte that texture issue is a common problem with most unreal engine 3 titles, ive experienced those type of texture issues with ps3, 360 and pc titles when it loads scenes mostly.

This is shining a bad light on Rocksteady. :(

Technically it's not them. The port was done by an outside company, Iron Galaxy, who have quite a rocky history. This is their fault, and the management at Warn a Brother.

I'm pretty sure someone at Rocksteady knew about the state of the PC port, but Warner probably forced their hand. Too many people had pre-ordered, and we know how much Warner loves pre-order culture and DLC. Plus the fact that earlier in the week they had already cancelled the Batmobile special edition. Someone upstairs thought that the negative press from delaying the PC version and a few cancelled pre-orders (who probably would've bought the PS4|Xbone versions anyway) would somehow be worse than dumping it out on Steam in this state.

It's even been removed from the featured spotlight on the Store. That's gotta hurt.

That's one of the major issues with the PC version. It doesn't stream textures in properly, so that car will never look better. This is also partly what is causing the memory leak issues, because textures also aren't been streamed out either.

I saw a similar post of Neogaf where a guy stood next to a wall where the textures would stream in and out at random. It was hilarious. He was looking straight at it, and it was changing between a blurry mess and decent looking assets for no reason whatsoever. How do you mess this up so badly?

What annoys me even more is Warner's attitude. They made a post of their forums, basically asking if you've tried changing the settings. The port doesn't work, regardless of what graphics presets it's set too. Then you have this gem:

"For users that have an SSD available, we’ve noted increased streaming performance when the game is installed to that type of drive."

The World's Greatest Detective hard at work right there. You know, I've also noted that games tend to run better when my computer is powered on. :p You shouldn't need a SSD to be able to play this.

They also won't say that Iron Galaxy is behind the port, when they're listed in the credits for the game.

From the Steam Community page via GMG:QUOTE]Recommended Hardware Specs
(or equivalent)
Resolution: 1920x1080
V-Sync: On
Anti-Aliasing: On
Texture Resolution: Normal
Shadow Quality: Normal
Level of Detail: Normal
Interactive Smoke/Fog: Off
Interactive Paper Debris: Off
Enhanced Rain: Off
Enhanced Light Shafts: Off
Expected: 30fps (capped)

The Recommended Spec is intended to deliver an experience on par with the current generation of gaming platforms.
For an optimal experience, users with recommended spec hardware should not set their resolution higher than 1080p.

And that's exactly the problem - developers forcing PC gamers to under-utilise their rigs in order to be "on par" with the consoles.

At the end of the day, it's a game. Life is way too short to get too stressed about this idiocy from Warn A Brother (love that The_Imp_ZA)
They'd just better bloody fix it is all. While we wait, let's have a laugh:

I don't have the game anyway, my backlog is too full, the only 'big' games I'm buying this year are/were The Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid V. I had an interest in getting Arkham Knight once the inevitable GotY edition was out, but now? I'll get it when it's $10 in December 2016. Money is the only thing these big corporations understand, and Arkham Knight has already fallen to the 4th most popular spot on Steam. For a big AAA game that's a lot of lost revenue.

In general, I'm tired of being treated like a second class citizen. I don't have a console, neither do I have the means to fork out 6k for one and R600+ per new game. I use a PC to play games, oh the horror! :p Apparently the AAA scene can't understand that.
