Extra Life 2015: Gaming for a good cause

Party time! Excellent!
Well it's it's getting close to that time of the year again where we have a good excuse to play games for 24 hours straight. That's right, it's EXTRA LIFE!

For those that are still in the dark, Extra Life is a global gaming charity event where people enter their teams, get sponsors and raise money for a children's hospital of their choice while gaming for 24 hours straight.

Last year we marathon'd Firefall and had some great sponsors but unfortunately couldn't reach our donation targets :(

This year we are changing it up a bit; 24 hours / 24 games.

We are still finalising the game list and times and getting the final head count. Sponsors still pending...

The event starts at 10am on the 7th of November, so I implore everybody now to start saving up some donation monies :D
Last year we got the "too short notice bro" excuse from most :p

Also, if you are CT based and want to join us, drop me a PM and I will put you on the benchwarmer list to fill an empty seat (looks like there might be a couple as some of the newly parents elected to play from home).

I will have a chat with [MENTION=2226]InSanity[/MENTION] as well to see if we can get the eAe Northern chapter to participate :cool:

So, that's my story. Anybody else got something planned for Extra Life?

If you really don't want to be part of a charitable team you can still make a donation TO ME which counts automatically towards the team goal :D

At the moment yes. It's the easiest option. I might drag my PS4 with for the mini tournament section of the event where we will be playing games like Nighogg and MKX. And we are still playing around with the idea of perhaps including some board games as well but it's a bit tricky with a 1 hour limit per game

That's a pity. I am on my PS4 mostly and would have filled up some of the AI slots if you were short. But no matter. You will have a donation for your cause instead.
 
How does it work?

Do people stream the games or is there a place where people in the same location get together and play?

We have a venue that will host about 8 to 10 people. And everything will be streamed via Twitch

We accept all forms of cash donations ^_^

But if you have the technical knowledge of how to bypass your twitch feed upload to 3G that'll be great too :D

well as you know SA upstream speeds are abysmal, but it's a little bit better via 3G. so what we are trying to do is make the twitch feed upload using a 3G device. I was thinking of setting up some sort of proxy but not sure how or if this is even possible.

Unfortunately not, it's all 'merican based. We have discussed trying to do something local, but then we will have to circumvent the Extra Life website and handle the donations ourselves.
