Windows 10 to be shipped on USB flash drives

I was wondering who would be the first to ship software on a flash drive, I honestly didn't expect it to be Microsoft though.

I was looking forward to this for a very long time. Was hopeing it would have been GTA V but they gave us so many dvds :(

I have had my Win 7 on a flash for a long time and the install times are so much faster then the ye old DVD player.

GTA on a flash would have been awesome. But I figured porn would be the first to bite the bullet.

Actually Dell has been using USBs for OS recovery media last year already. Read-only so you can't delete/rename/edit files on it. Can't format it either. We tried "whistling:

The problem I find sometimes with old laptops which support Windows 10 or 8 easily even though they have Windows 7 you can't boot from USB in bios on some so you have to use a dvd.

With the drastic drop in the price of USB drives over the past few years, im really not surprised by this...

Now think if you could get music on usb stick.

But in today's age having your music streamed to your device is the way to go. I can't remember the last time i actually needed music on a CD or DVD.. I guess if you have restrictions when it comes to your data bundle it would make sense but otherwise probably not.

CDs are nice for those who like to collect (physically). Same with Kindles and books, I love my Kindle but certain books I will always buy as a hard copy so that I can update my shelves or easily lend to a friend.

Anyways this was a bit off topic. Yay for USB installations.

I was going to reply "dumbass, I listen to mp3's in my car via usb on the stereo, ofc you can get music on usb!"...but then I stopped being an idiot and realised what you meant.

*phew* dodged a bullet there :p
