Batman Arkham Knight PC "fix"

Bargain Hunter
So guys, for those of you (like me) not keen on waiting even longer for a PC fix, shouldn't even be surprised that the modding community have done what a company paid to do this couldn't do. They have pretty much fixed Batman Arkham Knight.

On my system (Galax 970, 16gb G.Skill Sniper, i7 3770k @3.5ghz - air, win 8.1 then 10) even when I used those .ini tweaks, my FPS was hovering madly between 30 and 50 and i had really bad texture popin etc. I was also unable to play the game for more than say 20 minutes at a time due to random crashes that would occur.

That has all gone away. Click here to finally play AK as it was meant to be played!!!

The post goes in intense details on what each setting does.

I can now finally do the AR challenges in the batmobile because it doesnt lag like crazy!

K mentioning all those with AK on Steam :)

Thanks bud, I'll try this out. The game improved here and there but some things as you say still bug me. Let's hope this works :D

This seems to work quite well, still get the odd 20-30 fps drop but nowhere near where it was. I'll continue tweaking the settings with this and see what happens.

Thanks 'mort.

Awesome to hear. I was gonna post here and ask for feedback on what your guys results are... For me its most noticeable with camera movement, it used to be not-so-smooth despite fps not dipping.

Here are my settings: batman.png\

I gotta say, disabling my AA on the top right really did have a noticeable effect on rain...the game AA is frankly terrible. hits performance AND makes things look bad :p

EDIT: Bumped up textures (4gb) and physx to High without any performance knock. was skeptical of high textures due to the whole 970 3.5Gb VRAM issue hehe :)

Great, I'll try this out. What Card you using? also a GTX 970 I assume?

Jip...as it says in the bottom left there. Got a Galax 970 from Wootware (no batman key though, they failed to mention that :/)

lol duh... blonde moment, so we're on very similar cards. Will definitely adjust to your settings cos first thing I thought would have biggest impact would be the GameWorks stuff which I turned off. Was actually able to enjoy the game last night.

Batman: Arkham Knight's PC "interim patch" due in the next few weeks

Warner Bros. has said the promised "interim" patch for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight is due in the next few weeks.

The patch is being tested now, Warner said in an update on the Batman: Arkham Knight Steam page.

"If all goes well, we expect to issue the patch in the next few weeks. We'll be sure to report back in the next two weeks on how the testing is coming along."

Previously, the publisher had said the patch would be released in August. It sounds like it may miss that target.

As for what it does, Warner promised reduced frame-rate hitches and improved performance on all GPUs.

Here are the notes:

Reduced frame rate hitches
Optimized system memory and VRAM usage
Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
Min Spec AMD GPU is once again the Radeon HD 7870 2GB
We're promised "robust" in-game settings, including:

Added the ability to change settings for Max FPS to 30/60/90
Added toggles for Motion Blur, Chromatic Aberration, and Film Grain
Added a "High" Texture Resolution value
Added Texture Filtering option
Added an Adaptive V-Sync option (NVIDIA only)
Added VRAM Usage Meter
Added Mouse Sensitivity Slider & Mouse Smoothing Option
And finally:

Fixed low resolution texture bugs
Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)
Warner said the above list is the priority, but it's still working on the following:

Skipping the boot up splash screens
DLC/Season Pass content
Additional updates such as Photo Mode

Finally got to try the tweak on mine (i5 and R9 270X). Still have a little stuttering on occasion but it is much improved and actually playable now. Thanks, mottamort.

So after the 2nd launch, the game is pulled and refunds given again?

Damn, that must be embarrassing.

It appears the rerelease of Batman: Arkham Knight a mere few days ago was the final death rattle of a resoundingly disappointing release from WB Games and Rocksteady, which are now once again offering full refunds for gamers still experiencing issues with the PC version of the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham franchise.

We recently took a final look at the game, benchmarking what was supposed to be a polished version of the Batman: Arkham finale. Unfortunately, our results indicated a performance hit at higher resolutions. The absence of promised SLI and Crossfire compatibility, combined with remaining performance issues and a 12 GB system memory recommendation for Windows 10 users, seemed to resemble the same day-one issues we reported on when the game first launched in June.

WB Games addressed the second-try failure in a post released on Halloween, which is fitting for this horror story of a PC game debut. In it, the company explained that dissatisfied customers can obtain a full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight for PC, regardless of how long they have played the title. The season pass can also be returned, but only in conjunction with the game, not separately.

the game is not pulled again, they're just offering refunds for customers who are still unsatisfied with the relaunched patched version

I was lucky and the game worked near flawlessly for me. Helluva good game! :)

Like Isengard, i was one of the lucky ones. I was satisfied with the initial launch of the game, all i did was change the fps to 60 and i was loving it :D

To put it mildly im pissed and the game has in fact ben pulled. Got this from bt games the day before yesterday. "Please note PC Batman Arkham Knight has offically been cancelled by Warner Bros and will not release unfortunately. Regards BT Games."

Not a happy camper at all i was so looking forward to that batman statue..........
