Maybe there is no smell. Yet the torture of being at work every day has convinced your subconscious that something is wrong so it manufactured a smell. And so you cleaned and cleaned, soothing your subconscious and so the smell gradually disappears and by the end of Friday it is gone. Then on Monday you get back to work and BAM! It smells disgusting.
