My SO and the rest of the developers on his team all use Macbooks. He runs Ubuntu at home, but he does all his app development on Mac. His reasoning is that Mac is just very well optimized, support is great and the hardware lifetime is great because it is very carefully laid out and designed. He can get an equivalent laptop for a third of the price, but according to him it's not worth his time to deal with laptops that fail after a year or two of hard use or tech support that jerk you around with the RMA process.
The company seems to be doing really, incredibly well, so I'll take his word for it.
I used my iPod on a bedside radio with an iPod dock and it completely eviscerated the battery life. Previously it used to last a week with a lot of use, now it lasts about 3 or 4 hours. I'm not even sure it's worth having the battery replaced so it just stays on the dock permanently now.

I won an iPod couple years back and I will admit it is the one Apple product I like. the batter life on that thing is amazing. interface is still stupid though![]()
