South African Rand coming to steam on 10 November

I really hope this lack of access is temporary.

Seems like I'm gonna have to make another account based in US like I did with PSN/Live

Unfortunately, this is a ban-able offence according to Steam's terms of use. You will naturally need to create an account and use a VPN service. If you get caught doing this, your US account will be banned and taken from you.

Well according to the MyBB article, some games haven't been priced in rohndts yet and that's why they're temporarily unavailable.

Yep, that's why I specifically say in my posts that it must be priced in Rand. We have to make our voices heard! Before the sales are coming!

Fallout 4 is R799

Pathetic. Buying on Steam is dead to me now. Guess it is a good thing. Give our local shops a chance to make sales again.

Just makes you wonder why they even bothered to support the Rand. Maybe MYGAMING can contact them to find out and write an article on it?

Most things are cheaper now :D I agree with this change.
Seems like most games are converted at somewhere at the R11/$ rate

I don't understand, why wasn't it dead to you before this? Its cheaper than it was before, be it, not by much.

And if the Rand carries on tanking, and they don't adjust, it will actually become cheaper. I am disappointed it was not more cheaper, but at the same time, a lot of people thought it would be 15% more. It seems some people weren't actually converting there Steam purchases to Rands.

I'm sure many were doing this. Even I found that my initial conversion was around 10 to the $ but then added a bit more, but the initial impression was $10 = R100ish when the reality is more like R140ish. Seeing the prices in Rands just drives home how much the games actually cost.

Yeah, I get that, but I would also assume most would check the actual conversion before jumping to conclusions in a thread, on steam switching to Rands. Also doesn't anyone get an sms from their bank straight after they purchase something? I admit i was little shocked at how much Fallout 4 costs. But I haven't purchased a game new in years, generally wait till its 50% off.

Having a laugh at the few people who are butthurt about this. :D

I'm pretty happy overall. I think the prices for some games will fall once the publishers adjust the prices a little bit. I see all the Ubisoft prices are the same price as the ones on Origin. For example, AC:Syndicate is R600, which is the correct price in my opinion. Before it would have been $60 (R852).

Grievous FO4 is cheaper now than it was yesterday ;) I think seeing the rand prices will show people how much cash they're really spending on Steam, instead of giving the illusion of being "cheap" because the prices were in dollars. :p

Prices are definitely cheaper than before so on the face of it its pretty cool! GTA V was on sale for $40, which would have been around R567 before the change, but now that its in Rands its R394

Hectic so AC is a lot cheaper? But yeah thats exactly what I think has been happening, some people haven't been doing the conversion correctly, and didn't check their bank accounts transactions (which would be in Rands).

Haha this is the internet - rather assume that people DON'T think before jumping to conclusions and rage posting!
