What to buy....

Thread Killer Mk III
so i recently won some monies at work and am looking to buy something for my pc.

i was thinking either and SSD or a GPU

ideally i want both but i can only buy one right now and i cant spend more than what i won cause im getting married next year and weddings are expensive... so what would you guys suggest i buy for R2000.00?

i currently have a GTX750 gpu.

Ek sou vir n ssd gaan - dit het my lewe baie verander, en ek move my most played games op dit en dit werk net. Dis so awesome - maak loading times in games beter, ens. Ek sit met n ouwer gfx card en kan nogsteeds meeste games op medium to max settings speel.

For 2grand you can get a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB, which is a really great SSD.

R2k won't get you much in terms of a GPU upgrade (unless you factor in money from selling the GTX750, then you might be able to get a GTX960).

I'd say get a SSD if you don't have one though, they are great :D

SSd at that price range. ID have urged you to get a gpu upgrade at all costs as your gpu needs looking at. But youd need to sell the 750 and then will get a card with barely more performance than you have now .

And agreed te Samsung 850 EVo is possible the best SSd yo ucan get . But you can get the Sandisk SSDs at evetech on special. infact a R500 extra on the R2000 can get you a 512Gb SSd that is looking very very good. the Sandisks uses same chips as teh 840 Evo Samsung range. So its a good SSD

Agreed... SSD for the Win! In my opinion its the one thing that gives the most noticeable improvement to a PC...

As a few of the guys said, for 2K you will not be able to get any kind of monster GPU. So SSD will be your best choice for that kind of money. OR even better, save it for the wedding/honeymoon ! Trust me, will come in handy

ok so SSD it is. ja i looked around and my price limit is basically my current card... i could get a slightly better version of my card with more ram for a couple of hundred more but u think SSD will work well. i'd love for games to load faster. lets hope takealot has a good SSD special sometime soon

I don't like to put games on my SSD

remember SSD's have a cycle limit, then it dies. the the more activity (data writing) there is in the drive, the shorter it's lifespan gets

That's a limit that you'll never ever ever hit. It's still a concern for data centres, but anywhere else, you can do what you like with the drive and have no concern whatsoever.

hmmmm... interesting. but paranoia will still not let me run games off mine :p

does it really make a difference anyway? I mean sure your loading times will possibly be better but will it really increase the game's performance?

Performance gains are negligible, it is mostly the loading times that are a lot faster. It really does make a big difference in the loading times.

And yes, I wouldn't be concerned about the SSD dying. I have had my SSD for 2 years now and I checked the other day with CrystalDisk. I think I have 10TB written, 6TB read or something. So that means my SSD should last for 10 years (if it will even die at 100TB, a lot of SSD's last into the petabyte region these days). I'm sure in 8 years time I won't have this SSD anymore, or atleast it won't be my primary drive anymore :)

If it lasts me 10 years I would be more than happy
