Downgrade, but to what?

Hi guys
I'm in need of some advice.
I don't game as often as I used to and now mostly watch movies etc on my system but I'd still like to have some gaming power when needed, looking for a cpu and mobo that has at least 8 sata ports, which would that be as I feel my 3930k cpu and rampage iv black edition is overkill atm but the gpu (galax hof gtx970) I'll hold on to
TIA.

....I'll trade you my 750 i5 and mini intel mobo!
Not a fan of mini and how would it look in coolermaster haf xm with side window?, anyway I'm about 80% there about downgrading if/when the other 20% of of my mind joins then I'll let it go.

no you don't notice it hey. I have a window case as well. it's not MINI mini. just a bit narrower. makes it easy to handle.

still have the box the mobo arrived with. What kind of performance and clock speed (stock as I'm not really an oc guy, reason being idk how to haha) and will ur setup be able to run the latest games without hassle?

yeah it runs everything just fine. my lag comes from my out dated GPU. the i5 is 2.4ghz iirc. and the is running 8gb ram atm. only packaging I still have is for the ram :D

Hmmmm something to stew over..... I'll get back via pm if my minds made up.

Nee OP. Don't switch...you'll lose value for money.

Rather keep existing gear & postpone the next upgrade.

If gaming isn't a massive priority then stuff can stretch pretty damn far...esp at the moment. Browsing the web doesn't exactly require made power etc.

Pretty much all tasks short of gaming do perfectly fine with an old PC...esp if you add a SSD.
